Salt River Project reservoir formed by Mormon Flat Dam (1925) on the Apache Trail (SR 88) northeast of Mesa. Canyon Lake Marina and several day-use sites; Tonto Pass required for boating. Check SRP for drawdowns; a multi-week closure for dam work was planned starting Sept 2026.

About Canyon Lake

AZGFD plants rainbow trout in Canyon Lake each month from November through March. The lake is about 950 acres of red-rock water on the Salt River. A 15-pound state-record largemouth came from shore here, and a 1985 world-record yellow bass did too.
