What to watch for
Accessing Avalanche Lake can be challenging, as the trail is choked with large boulders, and wooden ladders have been built to make passage possible. The trail also takes to wooden catwalks that are bolted directly into the cliff face, with a historical account noting a point with no footing on shore. Furthermore, Avalanche Lake has been observed frozen over.
