Day-use parking (Rich Lake Access) is off Route 28N on Rich Lake Lane, ~2 miles west of Newcomb Town Hall. Non-motorized boats only; the NYSDEC lake map shows a car-top launch at the south end. Surrounding land is private outside marked areas.

The first plant of the year usually falls in the first week of May. In 2014 it was June 1, 2014, later than usual.

Ward Pond (4.3 mi), Shaw Pond (5 mi), Jackson Pond (7.2 mi), First Lake (8.4 mi), and Cedar River (8.5 mi) were stocked more recently. Ward Pond is also stocked with Brown Trout and Cedar River is also stocked with Brown Trout.
