About Lake Powell

NPS lists black bass, striped bass, walleye, crappie, catfish, and bluegill at Lake Powell. Release bonytail, pikeminnow, chub, and razorback sucker unharmed. Glen Canyon Dam cleared this Colorado River reach. The lake spans Utah and Arizona in Glen Canyon NRA. Six marinas line the lake. A year-round ferry links Bullfrog and Halls Crossing.

NPS notes mercury contamination affects striped bass in the lake's southern section, from about mile 43 to the dam, a concern for anglers who eat their catch regularly. Wader cleaning stations near Lees Ferry help combat aquatic invasive species.
