DEC operates two concrete boat ramps on Port Bay (28 and 35 trailer spaces) plus an ADA-accessible hand launch with dock and kayak slide at the West Port Bay Road inlet. A seasonal portable toilet is on site.

Fishing Port Bay

Port Bay supports a variety of fish species, including Bowfin, Northern Pike, Channel Catfish, and Walleye. Anglers can also find Brown Bullhead, Rock Bass, and Pumpkinseed. Historically, Port Bay was annually stocked with fingerling walleyes raised from fry by cooperating angler associations.

What to watch for

The shoreline of Port Bay is shallow with extensive beds of submersed, floating, and emergent aquatic vegetation. Nuisance invasive submergents like eurasian watermilfoil and curly leaf pondweed have been found in the bay. A mechanical harvester is operated annually by the Wayne County Soil and Water Conservation District to control the vegetation.
